A new kind of shopping destination is opening in Richardson — and the businesses behind it are exactly the reason you’ll want to go.

Small business owner Krista Evans saw a gap. Local makers, boutiques, and artists in Richardson had the talent and the product — what they needed was a home. Village Collective Texas is that home.

Her own business, Essentially Evans Embroidery, grew up doing pop-ups and building relationships throughout the neighborhood. One thing became clear over the years: small businesses thrive when they have the right community behind them. Not just customers. Community. People who show up, tell their friends, and come back.

Village Collective is what she built from that belief. A curated boutique market at 635 W. Campbell Road — right in Campbell Road Village between CVS and Natural Grocers — where local makers, boutiques, artists, and small businesses each have their own booth under one roof. Every booth independently owned. Every purchase going directly to a local family chasing a dream.

It is open this Saturday, August 1, for a soft opening. Their grand opening date will be announced on their Instagram at @villagecollectivetx. Here’s a look at the businesses that will be calling Village Collective home.

Chérie Lane

Abby started Chérie Lane as a college project at Baylor University in 2022. What began as an online boutique became one of the fastest-growing women’s fashion names in North Texas, known for timeless style, elevated brands, and pieces that make women feel confident and beautiful. In 2025, she opened her first flagship store in Richardson. At Village Collective, she’s bringing an exclusive collection — pieces hand-selected specifically for this space that you won’t find in her Richardson storefront. If you’ve shopped Chérie Lane before, you already know. If you haven’t, this is a great place to start.

Tailgating Central

Founded right here in Richardson by Katherine in 2019, Tailgating Central started with four schools and a simple mission: help women find stylish, elevated game day apparel and gifts that go beyond the campus bookstore. It’s grown into something much bigger — a beloved destination for college sports fans carrying products for more than a dozen universities. Game day apparel, accessories, home décor, clear bags, jewelry, and gifts for fans who love to cheer in style. Football season is right around the corner. Katherine’s booth is going to be a very popular stop.

Beyond the Canvas by Sarah

Sarah is a local artist creating one-of-a-kind original artwork with a modern Western feel. Signature cowgirl portraits, abstract western pieces, custom commissions. Each painting is thoughtfully created to make a statement and tell a story. Whether you’re looking for the perfect piece for a gallery wall or want something uniquely yours, her work is the kind that makes a room feel finished. And genuinely collected.

Mulier Originals

A mother and her two daughters, making handcrafted accessories right here in the DFW area.
